December 22, 2012 - January 6, 2013.
What more can I say?! It was a really refreshing vacation and I really really needed it! Every single day of this vacation was special.
December 22, 2012.
It started with a longgggg drive through the states of New York and Pennsylvania. It was a beautiful drive. Hills on both sides of the highway, great scenery and views. I have always liked drives and this one was absolutely one of my favourite. I did sleep quite a bit through it since my friend and I hadn't slept well the night before from excitement. :P
December 23, 2012.
I decorated my very first Christmas tree with my friends. We all put our gifts under it. We had more than 50 gifts under the tree. It was all so exciting since I never really got Christmas gifts and all so wrapped (some nicely, some not so much :P) and stuff. Rest of the day was a lazy day I guess.
December 24, 2012.
Made cup cakes together. It was fun. Some were ugly, some were nice. We decorated them but didn't eat them.:P
Later in the day, we opened the gifts since some of us were going to be missing on 25th. Opening gifts was a lot of fun! A lot of surprises and comedy happened.
It was also snowing outside. Pretty. At least we had a little bit of snow in Christmas. Better than nothing at all.
December 25, 2012.
In the afternoon, di picked me up and we drove to Boston. I believe it took us about 7 hours to get there. I saw Manhattan, New York from a distance since the highway went around it. Looked beautiful especially since sun was setting and the lights were up. Had no time during this trip but I can't wait to see New York!
December 26 - 27, 2012.
Di is a great cook. I have learnt some very good, easy to make recipes from her. Every time I go to her place, reminds me of India, specifically Maharashtra. She made some awesome tasting breakfast sandwich, and had chewda and chakli for snacks.
Unfortunately, the weather wasn't too good to go around and see the city. We spent the day shopping in the mall. Tried on some dresses for fun. Some were really funky ones.The Christmas decorations at the mall were really nice.
December 28, 2012.
The morning started with Pani puri. Just how better can it get. LOL
I was supposed to fly back from Boston to Baltimore today. The flight was in the afternoon so we had to rush everything since we had planned to go see Boston downtown before dropping me off at the airport. We enjoyed eating Pani puri and quickly got ready to leave for site seeing adventure. Since we didn't have much time, we decided we will go to the top of the prudential tower and see the downtown area from the top. It wasn't that expensive. (C N Tower is so much more expensive and plus Prudential tower had audio guides). It was a great experience. The audio guides described the view we were looking at and informed us a little bit about the history of the buildings and other structures.
After the tour at the tower, we drove to cambridge to see MIT. MIT building are white and carved with their names. We walked in front of the MIT _____ and took lots of picture.
Boston is a very old city and a beautiful one. Traffic was sooo much less in Boston. I think I could live in this city. :P Soon it was time for me to be dropped off at the airport. My Jet Blue flight was waiting for me. :) I was very excited since I was flying after almost 6 years! Although the flight itself was only an hour or so, I felt like I was going somewhere far away. I always get that feeling when I go anywhere near the airport. :P
On the other end, my friends picked me up at the airport and we decided we will make a trip to the mall. Apparently, the theatre at that mall has a Egyptian theme and I thought that was pretty cool.
