Day 28: Gorgeous blue water...

Monday. September 3, 2012.

I can never get tired of water, let alone gorgeous blue water. My family celebrated their labor day weekend at the Northwinds Beach Park, Craigleith. Oh what a place! and oh what a drive to that place!

We started out after noon that day, hence we wanted to take the fastest route to get to the place. We followed Airport Road from Highway 7 all the way up north took Highway 26 towards Collingwood. Airport road itself is a pretty scenic drive however if you start early enough and have more time on your hands, maybe you can incorporate one of the scenic drives in your route. Here's the link: Scenic Drives, Collingwood. I was particularly interested in the Blue Mountain Tour and the Great Falls Adventure.

The beach itself is rocky beach. You have to cross the rocks to get in the water for swimming and the rocks under water were pretty slippery, but once you cross that milestone, there is only sandy bottom and clear, clean blue water. Half the horizon (looking north) was a view of the stunning blue waters of the Georgian Bay and the other half (looking south) was a spectacular view of the Blue Mountain ski slopes.

Ofcourse, there is many more beaches around the area and there is so much more to do. South Georgian bay is one of the best regions to explore and perfect for day trips from GTA areas. I love to refer back to a particular website when I am looking for things to do in South Georgian bay: Visit South Georgian Bay

(I desperately need a better camera. :P)
