I have been thinking and thinking and thinking about what to write. All I did all day was sit on my bed and watch something. Although I do watch movies and series for entertainment, sometimes, I believe, this mundane activity becomes some kind of defense mechanism. My brain has been overworked, contemplating about my past choices and my future options. SOME-times watching a movie or anything else, temporarily takes my mind of unwanted thought processes.
However, should they be unwanted thought processes? I took a philosophy course to fulfill my degree requirements and came across this quote:
'The unexamined life is not worth living. ' - Socrates.
I might have read this quote before, but I paid more attention to it this time since I had to do my assignments based on it and many other sayings by Socrates. I used to think, not thinking about things in life, makes life simple. Now I realize, it's the other way around. You examine your life, remember what matters the most and let go of things that don't. What is difficult is to recognize what truly matters.
I recently watched Steve Job's speech again and he talks about connecting the dots. I hope, in future when I look back, I will be able to connect.
Profound! I completely agree with you. I definitely hope when you look back in life you'll be able to connect the dots. But as they say, your past experiences defines you, and makes you the person that you are today... and that person happen to be one of the people I love the most <3
